The V847-C uses a softer material than the rubber feet on previous models. Improved rubber feet for a better feel when switching on/off The true bypass design means that the signal does not pass through the circuit when the unit is switched off, ensuring that its tonal character is unaffected. The input impedance has been adjusted to make the sound not merely more powerful but also tastefully warm. The frequency range of the wah (frequencies in which the wah can be varied) has been set lower, with the gain boosted and the Q-value (the sharpness of the wah’s peak) adjusted to deliver a powerful sound with a low center of gravity. While carrying on the tradition of VOX wah pedals, the V847-C wah pedal’s numerous customizations make it the perfect modern VOX wah.ĭelivers a powerful sound with an improved frequency sweep It delivers a wah sound with great presence that will stand out when playing anything from chords to solos. Through careful experimentation, the traditional VOX wah has evolved into the V847-C wah pedal, with a tone that enhances today’s rock music. Recommended for a classic 60's wah tone. The new V847-C, an evolution of the legendary VOX wah soundīased on the specs of the original VOX wah from the 1960s, the V847 has faithfully transmitted the legendary sound to the present day. It doesn't have controls for Q etc of some wah pedals but I prefer simplicity in amps and pedals so that suits me - its tone I'm after without fidgeting and this pedal has plenty of that. Comes with a nice vinyl carry case, which some might find feels 'cheap' but I find retro! The only drawback is a short travel of the pedal from open to closed - another few millimeters would make subtle wah effects easier and more intuitive. Jack inputs feel secure and the input and output jacks don't feel wriggly like on some pedals, jacks insert with a reassuring click and stay put. ![]() The unit itself is sturdy and feels like it will last, with strong metal construction and heavy rubber fittings. VOX are marketing this as a classic 'reissue' of their original wah pedals and I would agree with that. It definitely reminds me of the solo on White Room. Even if it did turn on after applying all my body weight on it, I'd still not want a pedal that needs a full body jump on it to use it.Īs soon as I plugged this Wah pedal into my VOX VR30 amp it was very clear that it has a beautiful classic tone, and put me in mind of a lot of classic Wah solos that have that nasal driving sound. ![]() I know there are some people who are saying that you just have to press it harder, but I just couldn't do it. I opted for the money back option because I'm scared the next pedal could have the same issue. I contacted Thomann to see what could be done about the turning on/off problem, but they suggested I return the pedal and they will send a new one. ![]() You just plug it in and then it lies there with no separation from the electronics. When I opened the back of the pedal to see where the batteries go i was mildly disappointed to see there is no casing for battery. Vox Pedals Next Product Vox Amplification V847 Wah Based on the specifications of the original pedal developed by VOX in the ’60s, the new Wah-Wah offers guitarists the same legendary tone with the addition of AC power capability and a buffered input jack for preserving the unprocessed guitar tone when the pedal is not engaged. It would be better if it had more range but for this price that's really acceptable. I managed to turn it on by pressing the switch directly with my finger, and i can say the pedal sounds pretty good. But, when i tried to stomp it and turn it on, it just couldn't be done. Pedal itself is very heavy and feels sturdy and hard to break. ![]()
